Today I will be sharing you a DLO I made about the Te Tiriti O Waitangi it is for our history subject. But first I will tell you a little bit about what happened in the late 1830's.

In the late 1830’s the number of Maori population was about 100 thousand. But there have been

major drops in population. Some of the reasons are because of wars and diseases, the number
of drops in population was about 20 to 30 thousand. The name of the main settlement in
Aotearoa New Zealand is called Kororareka in Maori and Russell in English. But there was
trouble in the town and the rangatira and missionaries were unhappy about it. There would
sometimes be parties which were abusive and there would also be a lot of fighting that were
very very aggressive. 

Now I will show you a DLO I made, it is a timeline for the years that had special events.

Today I will show you a bar graph I made it is about how many minutes year 7&8 exercise for. The most popular time was 0-29m with 18 students, and the least popular time was 45-59m and 1:30+. As you can see the students who picked 0-29m needs to exercise MORE!

Today I will be sharing you a google slide that my teacher made about sodium. On the slide we had to list 13 food from highest to lowest on sodium the number one that had the highest sodium was ham. When we were called to check our answer I was surprised that butter and bread was one of the ones that had the highest sodium.

This week we have been celebrating the Filipino independence day. In the morning our teacher will teach and tell us how to say good morning in Tagalog. Good morning in Tagalog is "Magandang Umaga" all of us would have to say magandang umaga when our teacher calls out our name for the roll.

Kia Ora, Today I will be showing you a short animation that me and my friend Daniel made. It is about how to preserve food for a trip to Mars, we made this video using a website name Biteable you can check it out for yourself by searching Biteable.com.

It was a fine day on Aotearoa when the Moari saw huge ships sailing towards their island. The captain of the ship and the first European to arrive in New Zealand was a Dutch explorer Abel Tasman who arrived in Aotearoa in 1642. He first called the island Nouveau Zealandia, but he soon left. After so many years another explorer arrived in New Zealand his name was James Cook he arrived in 1769. James Cook introduced lots of stuff to the Moari like animals,fruits and vegetables. James unfortunately died during a fight. The Moari soon traded their animals, vegetables and fruit for muskets, alcohol and other tools. A musket is a very old gun. The musket wars broke out and they started killing each other with muskets. Finally the musket war ended at 1830.

Sugar Facts

The maximum amount of sugar you should have everyday is 6  teaspoons of sugar. There are about three bad things that could happen to your body if you consume too much sugar, you could get a type 2 diabetes, heart and liver disease which could affect how your heart and liver work and finally it can make you obese it can make you overweighted and it is very unhealthy. There are 3 ways to avoid eating too much sugar. The first thing is don’t drink too much fizzy drink or too much juice, if you want to drink juice make sure you buy a sugar free juice, did you know an orange juice contains more sugar than a normal orange fruit. The second thing you could do to avoid eating too much sugar is by drinking lots of water. You should drink at least 8 or more glasses of water a day. Finally to avoid eating lots of sugar is just keep eating food that are sugar free!

NEWS REPORT

Today I will be sharing you a news I made for a movie called "The Martian" the news I made was about Mark, its only a little bit of information about how Mark got stuck, survived and got back home.


News Report:

The Martian, Mark Watney was presumed dead during an unexpected storm on Mars. He was stuck on Mars alone by himself having no communication with Earth. There was little food with no sign of life on Mars. Mark had worked hard trying to grow potatoes inside the Hab and tried to produce water. After a few months later NASA finally figured out that Mark Watney is alive. They somewhat found a way to communicate with him through a rover they were able to communicate with Mark with letters. Finally the crew received the news that Mark was still alive so they travelled back to Earth to get supplies for another long trip to Mars to save Mark. They successfully saved Mark and brought him back to Earth safely.

THE MARTIAN REVIEW

Today I will be telling you what I have been learning and creating in our Hurumanu 3. Hurumanu 3 is about life on Mars, we had to do some research on a few questions about Mars one of the question was how long would it take to travel from Earth to Mars.

I will also tell you what movie we watched about Mars. Before we watched the movie we had to make a prediction on what will happen to the movie, I predicted that they would get stuck on Mars and they would have to survive on their own. The movie was called "The Martian" the movie is about Mark Watney (the main character in the movie) who got stuck on Mars. Mark and his crew were doing some research on Mars when a violent storm suddenly appeared, they had to go back to their rocket ship. But Mark wasn't responding so they presumed that he was dead and left without him.

Mark woke up on sand in Mars with a part of material they used for research stabbed inside his stomach but he soon got it off when he went to a house made for Mars. He tried surviving on his own by growing potatoes using his own waste burned hydrogen to make water, every time he finishes something he does he records himself using a camera so that if he dies and other astronauts come to Mars they will know how Mark lived on Mars.

One of the woman who worked for NASA saw that one of the equipment used to research in Mars was being moved it meant that there was still someone on Mars. They figured this out because of a satellite floating around Mars. They knew right away that Mark was still alive trying to survive on Mars. After a few months later they found a way to communicate with Mark through a rover. Mark had hacked the rover system so that NASA could communicate with him with letters. NASA told Marks crew who was on their way back to Earth to resupply at Earth and go back to Mars to rescue Mark. After a few more months of waiting Mark finally got help from his crew and got back home to Earth safely.
