Tevita's unexpected TRIP

Hello readers today I will tell you what I have done today this week. We had a chance to write a story about an image that the teacher has shown. Down below is my piece of writing I hope you enjoy reading it!

Rocky tall mountain reaching out on the blue high sky. As the leaves on the trees were blowing in the wind. As I sweep my eyes across to the left, the beautiful horizon came in sight. The ocean flowed as it carried the boats. And there was Tevita on a helicopter and amazed at the view of what he saw.

Tevita was a very kind man. He has a successful business for 16 years. He has dark brown curly hair, you'll be stunned as you look straight onto his eyes. Tevita decided to have a trip with his wife once for a while. He decided to fly on a helicopter with his wife around New Zealand.

Then something unimaginable happened. The once white clouds turned grey, rain soon came dropping out of the sky, the clouds whirled in the sky, blue sparkling light was in the middle of the clouds. Tevita and his wife's eyes were filled with horror.Before they had knew it they were on a middle of a storm.

Lighting struck at the back of the helicopter. Smoke came rising out of the helicopter, all you there was to hear was the sound of the couple shouting with fear. The pilot didn't make a sound he was fearless. The pilot landed the helicopter with skills, and the couples screaming faded away.

P.E HURUMANUU BASKET BALL TEACHING (LATE POST)

Kamusta readers today this week on Thursday and Monday in P.E Hurumanu my group and I were told to teach the sport we chose which was Basketball. Some of the people in my team were away because some had ESOL anyways first we had to tell them what are the warm ups we were gonna do. We told them to do lunges, high knees, butt kicks and a few star jumps. And today on Thursday we did a mini basketball tournament, this was a successful lesson because everyone was following instructions and no one was being silly. I contributed in the team by counting out how many points did a team score. Something I would do different next time is I would try to lead the warm ups or be the referee on the game. Things that I learnt in the sport we taught is that passing the ball and communicating with your teammate is very important.

My favourite part when I was teaching basketball is that I was actually allowed to play with them.

Fantastic Mr Fox #4

Hello readers today this is the last time I will tell you about the book that I have been reading for my Novel Study, Fantastic Mr Fox. Now I will tell you the next last chapters that I have read, this one is gonna be short.

After Mr fox and Badger got home with the cider they've stolen from Bean, they had a feast that Mrs Fox had prepared. Everyone was enjoying the food that Mr Fox had stolen from the 3 farmers, Boggis, Bean and Bunce. Mrs Fox that they couldn't wait for Mr Fox and Badger to come because they were really hungry. As they were enjoying the feast Mrs Fox stood shyly and shouted "MY HUSBAND IS A FANTASTIC FOX", everyone stood up and clapped at Mr Fox. Then Mr Fox himself stood up and said "Thank you everyone". As they were having a great time the 3 farmers were still waiting for Mr Fox and his family to come out hoping that Mr Fox and his family will get hungry and rush out of the cave.

Summer learning Journey

Kia Ora Emma I'm Miguel a year 7 student in Hornby High School, the thing I really like about school is when we get a chance to do some creative writing and doing some maths, I have now registered for the summer learning journey. I am looking forward to earning a lot of points on every blog posts I make and I am also looking forward to getting a lot of comments so I can reply to them and earn more points! The topic I am excited about is "Physical Limits" Sport and Exploration, I like this topic because I really like physical stuff and sports. By the end of the summer break I hope to earn awesome prizes for the blog posts that I have made.

WEDNESDAY GYM SPORTS

Today this Wednesday in Gym Sports we were split up in to two large groups one group will play tennis and the other group will be playing crash pad cricket. I was in the group where we will be playing crash pad cricket first, but then out teacher pointed at me and my three other friends to go play tennis. So we ran out of the gym and went out to the court and got a tennis racket. We played a 2v2 game of tennis in my team was Lars and the other two are Alex and Vann. Tennis was really hard to play because I don't really play tennis that much and we lost....

After half an hour we moved on to crash pad cricket inside the Gym, the game was really fun because everyone knew how to play. After half an hour in playing that game we moved on to period 4 and did some other things.

Fantastic Mr fox #3

Today in this blog post I will tell you more about the book that I have been reading for my novel study. It is the book Fantastic Mr fox by Roald Dahl the author of the book, and illustrated by Quentin Blake. I will now continue telling what I have read so far.

When Mr Fox, Badger and the three small foxes got back home using the tunnel they've made they saw a large group of animals surrounding around an enormous table, there were about 29 animals sitting around the huge table, they were enjoying the food that Mr Fox brought home, there were chickens, geese, ham, bacon and the other food that Mr Fox brought home he also brought home the cider he had stolen from Beans storage.

That is chapter that I've just finished reading hope you enjoyed this little summary of the book that I've been reading for our Novel Study!                                                                                                                                                            

Persuasive Writing

Kamusta today in Friday we had to pick a question for our Persuasive Writing, I picked the question "Children would learn better if lunches were provided" and I totally agree with it, here are some of the ideas I think why children would learn better if lunches were provided.

Children would learn better if lunches were provided

• Children would have more energy to learn if lunch were provided
• Some of food should be free such as fruits and vegetables for children and food should also be given to children with low income
• Lunch gives you energy, lunch raises your blood sugar level making you able to focus in the middle of the day, that’s why lunch should be provided to children that doesn’t have a lot of food to eat.
• Lunch is also where children get their vitamins and nutrients.

STATEMENT:

For children lunch is very important because this is when they get their vitamins and nutrients for the day.

Some of the food should also be free for all students, such as vegetables and fruits. 

And also lunch gives you energy, lunch raises your blood sugar level making you able to focus that’s why it is good for the school to provide lunch.

WEDNESDAY CIP/GYM SPORTS

Today this week on Wednesday we did our C.I.P Tane Mahuta. For Tane Mahuta we had to loosen up the dirt in the garden, because I think we will need to plant seeds there. That's all I really did in Tane Mahuta because after that I had to go to Gym Sports. Now I will tell you what I did in Gym Sports today, the first game we played was "kick long ball", to play you will need two teams, you can have any amount of people in your team but there has to be the same amount of people in both teams, anyways when you get your two team done one team was to form a line at the very end of a court near a basketball hoop. The person that is on front of the line needs to go on front of the basketball hoop but you need your back facing it, and you need to face the person that has his body facing the basketball hoop you also need to be 3 metres away from the person. The person that has his back at the hoop needs to chose whether he would kick the ball or throw the ball. If they want to kick the ball the person that is facing the hoop will need to roll a ball towards the other person and he will have to kick it, he can kick it anywhere he wants to. 

When the ball is kicked the person who kicked the ball needs to run from the basket ball hoop to the other side without getting hit by the ball you just kicked because the other team will be spread out in the court trying to get the ball you kicked or threw they will get you out by hitting you with the ball anyways when you've touched the wall you need to go back again without getting hit by the ball.

Novel Study

In this blogpost I will continue to tell you about the book that I have been reading the Fantastic Mr Fox book, but today I will tell you what happened in the story on a slide that I made 1 week ago. It's a short summary of the book I have been reading there are also pictures of the characters if you are interested in what they look like.

DIGITAL TECH HURUMANU

Kamusta, readers today in this blog post I will tell you about the things we have been doing in Digital Tech Hurumanu. First we were told to pick an issue, we had to pick between Ethical issue, Environmental issue and Social issue, I picked the Environmental Issue because it was really interesting learning about the issue in the environment. Now I will tell you some issues in the environment, one of the issue in the environment is Climate Change, the climate is getting warmer and warmer. Marine Pollution, a lot of rubbish getting thrown in the ocean and marine life dies when they eat some of the rubbish, these are some of the environmental issue that I had a research about.

When choosing an environmental issue we were also told to make an app or a game about the issue we chose, and of course I chose making a game, the game that I am making is about saving the world from Air Pollution and destroying factories and defeating the people that are protecting the factory. I will soon the share this game that I've made when I've done editing it and putting some more levels.

Fantastic Mr Fox!

Kia Ora readers today I will share you what book I have been reading in our class. The title of the book I'm reading is Fantastic Mr Fox, the author of the book is Roald Dahl. The characters are Mr Fox, Mrs Fox, Badger, Bean, Boggis, Bunce and the four baby foxes. Based on what I have read Bean, Boggis and Bunce were farmers they were really rich but they were also very nasty. Every night Mr Fox will ask Mrs Fox what they will have for dinner so that Mr Fox can steal food from the farm of Bean, Boggis and Bunce. But one day Bean, Boggis and Bunce were waiting for Mr Fox to come out of the hole under a tree where his family were living, when Mr Fox carefully snuck out of the hole the 3 farmers shot Mr Fox with their guns but luckily they only got Mr Fox's tail, and that is the part I got up to. I think what will happen next is that they would find a new home were there are foods and other animals living with them.

Orana Park ADVENTURE!

This exciting week we had done a lot of stuff like moving in on our new kahui classroom, but in this blog post I will tell you about what we did on Monday this week. On Monday we waited inside the learning commons for the bus to arrive at school ready to zoom in at Orana Park. After an hour, our bus to Orana Wildlife Park finally arrived, we rushed straight to bus excited to see the animals. When we arrived at Orana Park we first had to listen to what the orana park staff had to say, she told us how we can be safe, like not reaching your hands towards the animals in cages. After we listened to all she had to say we walked through the gate and we walked pass the little, cute meerkats. While we were walking around orana park we saw a lot of animals on the field like antelopes and Tasmanian devil, they were amazing but I didn't take any photos of them because I was waiting for a certain animal. We kept walking until we ended up where the lions cages are they were very scary but they roared like elephants. We walked and walked until we reached the kiwi house, we went inside the kiwi house and it was extremely dark because kiwi's are nocturnal animal, they were eating peacefully until we came in and made some noise one of them hid their selves in the bushes while the other one was still eating, we got to its nice long beak. AND finally the most excited animal I was waiting for was the gorillas! They were big and muscular they looked very tough there were three gorrilas one of them was the boss his name is Futaki and the other two are Mahali and Fuzu and these are animals that I only took a photo.

MISS TOZERS QUESTIONS!

What is Scratch? Scratch is an app where you could make your own app and where you can practice using codes.

What is Sphero? Sphero is a robot ball which you can control by connecting it to an app using a mobile device for this one we used an Ipad.

What do these tools/apps have in common? They have something in common because you can control them both.

Which do you prefer and why? I prefer the Sphero because they are more fun...............

How could you use one of these to address your issue? I can't think of any issue right now.

WOOODD TECHHH!

In this blog post I will tell you about the things that I've made on our Wood Tech because this week will be the last day we will do our wood technology. The first thing I made was a car it took along time to make it because we had to shape our wood by using a saw which was really hard the second thing I did was a face on a stand this one was easy because the only thing I did was draw on a wood and made a shape of a head. Finally the third one that I have done was a pencil holder this one was easy to because all I needed was a fat wood and put holes in it with a drill.

THE "ESCAPE ROOM"!

KAMUSTA Readers,

In this blog post I will tell you about the readers theatre and what play my team and I have done. The name of the play that we made was "Escape Room" this play was simply about a group of students went to an escape room and got stuck for the rest of their lives. The people in my group were Tevita, Hamid, Matt, Hans, Sahara, Daniel and finally me. The characters that were in the play were Mob/Tevita, Zhask/Hans, Shane/Sahara, Miguel/Miguel, Harley/Matt, Shazam/Hamid and the narrator is  Daniel.

Starter Script

It was 5 in the afternoon when 6 friends rode a bus to a halloween themed escape room in the town of Pennywise. In the group there were 5 boys and 1 girl they saw the big escape room building with webs and pumpkins all around the building.

*Shaking*

Mob: Umm…. Shazam this is scary maybe we should go back?

Shazam: OH COME ON DON’T BE A SCAREDY CAT!

Zhask: Hey don’t call him a scary cat

Shane: yeah leave him alone.

Harley: Hey guys, guys, so are we gonna do this or what?

*shouting in front of Miguel*

Shazam: heck yeah MIGUEL!

Miguel: What?

Shazam:’LET’S GO IN NOWlt 

Shane: WHAT? No its a stupid idea.

Mob: I’m scared

Shane: yeah same.Oh come on, there's nothing to be afraid of.

Shazam: * Shazam Pushes Shane and Mob inside*

Shane: Hey! Don’t push me! *steps outside*

Shazam: haha

*Talks in a really weird voice*

Harley: Hey guys why did the pig cross the road? 

Zhask: why?

Harley: To get to the other side!

Zhask: ha-ha-ha good one Harley

Shane: Oh my gosh you guys are morons. *Facepalms* *sigh* let’s just get this over with.

*Shane opens the door and everyone walks inside*

*the door slams shut*

Mob: Guys it’s too dark I can’t see anything 

Miguel: Don’t worry Mob We won’t let anything happen to you.

Shane: haha yeah right we’re all gonna get killed by demons.

Mob: wh-what? 

Miguel: SHANE STOP SCARING HIM

Shane:But it’s true-

Shazam: guys do you hear that?

*everyone hushes and looks around the room*

Shazam: it’s getting louder c’mon.

*everyone follows Shazam*

Mob: *gulp* g-guys i don't           

 like this i think i'm gonna faint.

Miguel: Mob stop over exaggerating

Shazam: You guys are being pathetic everythings fine!.

Greg:*weird old lady voice* welcome! Today i Greg will be hosting this year's Halloween escape room-

Harley: umm are you my dad? Where have you been for all these years-

Greg: shut up I'm not your father idiot- Ehem as i was saying.. Welcome to the escape room there will be multiple sets of riddles and puzzles that you must solve in order to get out. Have fun and good luck.

Mob: *Shivers* I knew this was a bad idea,

Shazam: yeah you’re Right Mob 

Zhask: can we get this on when

 I got to catch up with my ten hours of beauty sleep.

Mob: good to know Zhask.

Greg: walk through the door and start the fun

Miguel: ok let’s  go.

**all go through the escape room door

Shazam: hmm what to do?

Zhask: maybe we use a hint?

**Uses hint** 

Greg: The puzzle code is next to you is colour coded

And next time you use a hint half of you will disappear

Shane:are you serious?!!

Zhask: umm ok let me try this red black yellow green

**Moves shapes wrong**  Mob: GREG GIVE ME A HINT

Greg: wait are you serious, ok then  zhask harley and shazam may disappear  and they may talk to you from the bellow

Narrator still to this day they are stuck on the first puzzle of the escape room.

Today in period 1 we had to walk from our class to the auditorium. We were meeting an author here in New Zealand the author was a girl her name is Ella West, Ella West has published 6 books in total. In the auditorium she told us about her books, and what book was the highest selling book that she had made. Her highest selling book was her book "Night Vision" which was published in 2014 and she also told us that this book was translated in Italian language. The Night Vision book was about murder and a little kid that had a genetic problem, she was not allowed to be exposed in the sunlight. After she told us information about her book we were to ask questions about her. After we finished asking some questions we walked back to our class.

Kamusta readers today I will talk to you about my Digital Tech Hurumanu this is the first blog post about digital tech hurumanu, and so I will tell you all the things we've done so far.

In Digital Tech we started of learning what the Environmental, Ethical and Social problems first we watched a video about Social, Environment and Ethical videos after that we were given 3 pieces of paper and the people in my group were Joshua, Alex, Tevita and Hamid. With our 3 pieces of paper we had to write Environment on one paper and Ethical on the other and social on the other one. On those papers we had to write ideas of what might be the issues of each one of them.

Finally the second activity we did was to pick one of the 3 topics I chose Environment. I had to research one of the issue in the environment and I picked Climate Change. I had to research different websites to get information about climate change but I couldn't do that much work because I had ESOL and one time I had an Ipad which was really hard to use so I couldn't get onto google and search some websites.

But some of the issues I learnt about Climate Change is that some of the ice are melting and the sea level is rising and some people that lives near the sea will get washed off so they had to evacuate. I also found out that one of the forest in Brazil The Amazon was burning because it is hot.

SUBTRACTING USING THE COLUMN METHOD! (very, very, VERY Late Upload)

WEDNESDAY GYM SPORTS

Today in Wednesday we had our CIP Tane Mahuta this time I didn't get to work on the garden or in the green house because I had Gym Sports, so today in his blog post I will tell you what I have done in Gym Sports!

The first thing we've done in Gym Sports was of course warming up, to warm up our body we had to run from beside the court and to a really big tree that was all the way down at the side of the enormous field. When we got back beside the court we did a little bit of stretching that only took one minute, well we got really tired when we ran from the court to the tree that was so far.

When we got back inside the Gym we got straight on the main thing we were going to do the beep test again... But this team I wasn't with my class mates on P.E Hurumanu this time I was with the people that signed up for Gym Sports every Wednesdays and also this time we could buddy up with someone and they could take turns on running which was really good for people that doesn't have many stamina. In beep test I had no partner which was really tiring for me but luckily I reached level 10 stage 1!

After we've done our beep test we got to play dodge ball, every ball that I got I handed it to my teammate Gerald because he was really good at throwing the ball and getting people out. When a lot of my teammates got out and so did Gerald there were only a few of use in my team. After about 3 min people on the other team started hitting me because there were only a few of us and there were a lot of them. On the second match of dodge ball I immediately got hit on the foot and I had to get out and sit on the benches and just watch them play...

P.E HURUMANU FITNESS TEST

Kia Ora readers today I will tell you all the things we've done in our P.E Hurumanu this week we did fitness testing we started doing it on Monday. On our fitness testing we had to do sit ups, grip test, sit and reach and vertical jump in sit up I got the total of 7 sit ups it was hard for me because I was only wearing socks which were really slippery and the gym ground were also slippy, so every time I try to go up my feet slides away from me. On grip test we had to use grip strength on it I got 6 it was really hard for me to squeeze because my hands weren't that big and I also didn't have that much strength to get to 10 or above. On vertical jump I reached 2.3 and the height that I got when I was putting up my hand up in the air I got 1.9. Finally the sit and reach I reached 20.4cm

Today on Thursday we did our P.E Hurumanu. On P.E we had to do our beep test it's where you run from a line and you will have to run on the other side. That score that I got was level 9 stage 9 but I accidentally told my teacher Miss Birtch who was recording our score that I got level 9 stage 8. 

I think we did fitness test to record how fit we were and what we can do. I think I also worked successfully with others by not arguing with my teammates. I think some of my actions and feelings affected others because I was kind of being silly and I think they got annoyed. But I helped people that were struggling by cheering them up and telling them to do their best.

CIP Tane Mahuta Gardening

In this blog post I will tell you the things we have been doing in CIP on Wednesdays. Our CIP is called Tane Mahuta, in Tane Mahuta CIP our main focus is about gardening, we had been planning on making an outdoor classroom for learning. On Wednesdays we also go out in the school garden and we had to clean every thing inside an old greenhouse we had to carry big heavy furniture out of the old greenhouse we carried the stuff we didn't need on the right side there were, broken chairs, broken tables and a lot of other broken stuff, the things on the right side were mostly broken stuff. In the left side we carried the things we need such as dusty tables and big cupboards.

Outside the greenhouse some students were told to carry enormous old tires that was used for gardening a long time ago, they had to gather the tires on the ground. They also had to carry enormous sheets which were really heavy and had to pull out weeds from the ground under the shade of a small greenhouse tunnel.

The second thing we did was to choose what type of stop motion we were going to do, we had a choice of doing our stop motion using clay or just drawing characters on the white board. My group and I picked the clay because it sounded very fun. Third thing we did was make the characters we had on our google doc. Finally the last thing we did was taking pictures of the characters.
	What I learned: One of the things I learnt was using the Stop Motion App, at first when one of my group members opened up the app it looked very complicated but as the weeks passed by I learnt how to use it.
	What I enjoyed:  I enjoyed making our characters using clays I also enjoyed when we had to write a narrative story about our ideas we had.
	What I found difficult: The only thing I found difficult was taking the pictures .

MATHS PLACE VALUE DLO

LO: I can demonstrate my knowledge of place value.

Today in maths interchange we have been discussing about place value. We didn't really focus that much on the ones, tens and hundreds we focused a little bit more about the tenths, hundredths and thousandths which was after the decimal.

Narrative Story ART HURUMANU

Kamusta readers this week I finished the Manaakitanga narrative story in our Art Hurumanu. In this story they show Manaakitanga by being helpful like donating 10 MILLION DOLLARS to a school and helping pushing a bank truck to a school. MANAAKITANGA



Mr. Sutton the kindest principal of Hornby High School was having an enormous problem he needed 10million dollars!, to finish constructing up the new buildings that he wanted to construct at the school. Mr. Sutton thought that he would ask one of the richest couples in the world to borrow 10million dollars, he wanted to ask the rich couple Charlie and Rose. Mr. Sutton rushed to grab his phone off his office table and quickly tapped Charlie’s name on the call list (Charlie’s name is on the call list because Mr. Sutton once called him to help him to build Hornby High School) and the phone started to ring.” Kia Ora Robin how can I help you?” asked Charlie, “ Could I borrow 10million dollars to finish constructing the buildings that I was planning to build?” asked Mr. Sutton/Robin “ Absolutely Robin” responded Charlie, “ the call ended”.




Mr. Sutton received a message from Charlie that says “Me and Rose will send the 10 million dollar using a bank truck, the bank will not let us send the money with card, the truck will be there at 10pm”. The bank gave the 10 million dollar cash to Charlie and Rose to put on the bank truck. 4 men inside the bank heard the conversation of Charlie and Rose that they will transfer 10million dollars using a truck. The 4 men rushed out of the bank and quickly opened the car doors, the car zoomed away from the bank and disappeared in the distance.




It was 9:30pm and the bank truck started to travel to from the bank to Hornby High School. The bank truck suddenly came to a halt it was half way to Hornby High School, and 4 hooded figures came out of the mist. It was then they knew that their truck ran out of gas, the driver complained to his mind that he drove to the gas station before he drove off. It was the 4 men inside the bank that drained the bank truck when the driver was paying inside the gas station, and the 4 hooded men was them!





The driver looked out on the window to see if anyone was outside so that he can ask for help, his eyes grew big as he was scratching the steering wheel when he saw the 4 hooded men had a bat a gun and a knife. His arms quickly reached the door and opened it and ran to the nearest house. He was so nervous that he knocked so hard on the door, his eyes were full of fear and was shaking like it was the coldest time he had experienced. A man inside the house opened the door and shouted “ WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?!”, “ fo-fou four hooded man was standing in front of the bank truck I was driving” He responded while he was shaking. One of the men standing in front of the bank truck was holding a crowbar.




The man holding a crowbar sprinted at the back of the truck and used his strength and crowbar to open the door. Each man had a bag to put the money inside. They took the money out of the truck without any hesitation, as they were grabbing the money inside, sirens from far away started to get louder and louder as if it was coming closer. When they the 4 men heard the sirens they panicked and panicked and dropped the bags full of money and sprinted as fast as they could away from the truck like Usain Bolt. Unfortunately they were blocked with the police cars. The 4 men were caught!




The truck driver and the man inside the house he knocked onto called the police for help. People in their house heard the sirens and had a look outside their house, and when they asked the truck driver what had happened, when they knew that the truck ran out of fuel, they volunteered to push the truck to Hornby High School.




The buildings in Hornby High School was finished constructing and Mr. Sutton was thankful to Charlie, Rose, the bus driver and all the people that helped to push the truck they were all happy, and the bus driver was promoted to be in charge with the bank trucks.
